The Holy month of Ramadan in 2012 is expected to commence on Friday, the 20th of July and will continue until the 18th of August. Ramadan is one of the greatest religious observances in Islam, and it honors the revelation of the Holy Quran-an ultimate guidance for the mankind.

It is the time of the year which Almighty has prescribed for physical purification of all believers through the act of fasting; by refraining from food and drink from dawn until sunset. But the utmost notion of fasting is the spiritual purification of the soul through salvation obtained by self control and averting all the forbidden acts. Ramadan allows the believer to get closer to God in the divine sense, by prolonged prayers during the Holy month, and continuous recitation of the Quran besides other virtuous acts of worship.

Being an Islamic nation, and with an enormous Muslim population, Ramadan in Dubai has become more like a cultural and traditional event with lots of importance placed to the Holy month with activities and events throughout. “Ramadan in Dubai” is a campaign that will take place this Ramadan and will celebrate the heritage and traditions; giving an insight into the values of the Holy month.  Several Government and social entities in Dubai have come together to organize this great concept.
